GLOBAL PROGRAM

The studio’s Sustainability Department collaborates with production teams to implement the global sustainable production program, aligned with industry standards at organizations such as the Sustainable Entertainment Alliance and the albert consortium.

For a production to achieve Sony Pictures’ Sustainable Production status, it completes four requirements:

  • Training: Completes an internal or third-party sustainable production training course during pre-production.

  • Planning: Establishes accountability and creates production-specific sustainability objectives.

  • Sustainability Reporting: Tracks carbon emission data and sustainability practices through available tools.

  • Carbon Reduction Opportunities: Completes at least one high-impact initiative to reduce Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions.

Additionally, all productions must implement and enforce common programs and policies. These simple actions contribute to reducing a production’s emissions.

  • No vehicle idling: Vehicles not actively in use should be turned off.

  • No polystyrene use: Eliminate Polystyrene use (also known as Styrofoam) from catering service ware.

  • Use sustainable lumber:  Purchase lumber from sustainably-harvested sources.

  • Minimize single-use plastics: Replace common plastic items such as water bottles, utensils, plates and cups with reusable or alternative materials.
